About the Club

Just a few of us in Washington Square Park.

La Boule New Yorkaise is a pétanque club based in New York City. Our home pistes are in Washington Square Park, though our members also play in Bryant Park, Central Park, and various parts of Queens. We are dedicated to promoting pétanque as a fun and recreational activity, as well as a competitive sport.

Our club is affiliated with the National Federation of Pétanque USA, Inc.(FPUSA), which is formally associated with the Federation International de Pétanque et Jeu Provençal (FIPJP), the 50+ nation international governing body based in France.

During the playing season (April to November), our club holds tournaments—some random "melees" and some "select"—about once a month, usually in Bryant Park. Otherwise you can find us playing in Washinton Square Park on the weekends—or giving free pétanque lessons every weekday lunchtime at Bryant Park.

Our club is not a league. We come as individuals and play in teams, which in Washington Square Park are mostly randomly determined. At around 100 members, we are a varied, ecletic bunch mostly living in the Tri-State area, with a few in other states and even overseas. If you are interested in our club, please pass by Washington Square Park or Bryant Park. Catch a few games. Talk to us. Or contact us by email: info@labouleny.com.
